Biography: My name is
Ob and I am 32 years old and I’ve lived in Southern California most of
my life. I have two younger brothers who are 21 years old and 29 year
old. I attended Damien High school which is a catholic all-boys school
in La Verne, California. I played basketball and track at the school. I
made a name for myself at the school as a sprinter. When I graduated
from the school I was one of the fastest sprinters in the league and in
CIF. My events were 100, 200 meters, 4*100 relay and 4*400 relay.
After my senior in high school I was
offered a track scholarship to Cal State Fullerton. At Cal State
Fullerton, I ended breaking the school record in the 100 and 200 meters
and held the title as the fastest man in school history. My other
athletic accolades at the school were athlete of the year and all Big
West conference 2 years in a row. I graduated with a B.A degree in 1998
with a degree in communications. My love for fitness started when I was
16 years old. I was always the skinny kid that used to get mad fun of
because I was so thin. I would look at muscle magazines and dream about
having a body like that.
That was the start of me lifting weights.
I started to lift weights and shape my body to prevent girls and guys to
make jokes of my body. This weight-training and body-shaping started at
16 years old and carried through college and after college. I didn’t
realize it at the time, but my body seem to respond very well to weight
lifting. In college, I started to get many compliments from students on
my physique and from then I started personal-training part-time. I still
personal train occasionally when I have the time. During my last two
years of college, I got approached by many sports modeling agents to
sign with them once I was done competing in track. I started doing
fitness modeling once my collegiate eligibility was over and was very
blessed to have some success very early. My first audition
was a Nike audition for a fashion show and I booked my first job and I
thought wow this is pretty cool. I started doing fitness modeling
while I was working my full-time job as an operations engineer.
Fitness modeling has given me the privilege
over the years to have traveled to some really cool places such as
Singapore, Paris, Hawaii and Beijing, China. Some of my hobbies that I
enjoy are working out, traveling, watching movies, helping people that
are less fortunate than me. Although I love fitness modeling, education
has always been very important to me. I have a B.A degree in
communication and I have a B.S. in computer networking. I am currently
11 months away from finishing my Masters degree in Information Systems.

What makes a great fitness
model?
I think what makes a great fitness model is first of all living and
thinking a healthy and fit life. Second is always being a professional
when working at a job. Third is accept any fitness job even if it pays
you $50 dollars. The reason is that you never know what exposure can
come from that particular job. Always look at the big picture as a
fitness model. The more your face and your body is out there the more
exposure you receive regardless of how much you’re paid.
What are the secrets to become a
fitness model?
The secrets to becoming a fitness model is staying fit consistently,
take pictures with as many fitness photographer as you can, send fitness
pictures to as many fitness magazines as possible you never know what
will come from your submissions. Also don’t be afraid to attend an open
call with your pictures or portfolio book at any sports modeling agency.
There are many sports modeling agencies looking for attractive fitness
models.
What did you do to become a
model?
My college athletic success is what made me attractive to some of the
sports modeling agencies. I had sports modeling agencies trying to
recruit me ever since I started to compete as a track athlete in
college.
What are the benefits to being a
fitness model?
The benefits of being a fitness model is very simple. To be
successful as a fitness model you have to be fit year-round. So the
benefit is being consistently healthy and fit. Also another benefit is
to be able inspire people just strictly based on how fit you are. You
may not know it but you inspire people just by being fit. You don’t even
have to have spoken words with someone. Your fit physique attracts all
sorts of people and many of them will think to themselves how can I look
like that and wow that person looks incredible. You can’t put a price on
how you can inspire someone to be the best they can be.
What is your favorite things
about being a fitness model?
My favorite thing is being able to inspire people from all over the
country. I love to help people and I feel blessed by being fit and by
working as a fitness model that I can help people stay fit by giving
fitness tips or advice.
How do you stay beautiful?
I just try to live a healthy life and I believe that if I do that it
will slow the aging process and make you glow. There is nothing in the
world better than being healthy.
How do you stay fit, do you have
a personal trainer, chef, work out, what do you do?
I don’t have a personal trainer and I train myself. I work out 4-5
days a week. I train two bodyparts a day and I usually have my hard days
early in the week and my easy days later on in the week. I also do
cardio 3-4 times a week with running a 3-4 mile a run at 7:30 mile pace
on the track or simply just road work.
I generally lift weights about an hour and 40 minutes. I warm up
with 12 repetitions and then move into my regular reps of 10 reps. I
generally train in a circuit training type of a workout but I still lift
heavy to so I can burn calories but at the same time maintain my muscle
density. The way I train allows me to maintain my leanness but still
look explosive. I come from the background of no pain no gain. If you
can talk on your cell phone while working out then you’re not really
working out.
How do you keep you skin healthy
and fresh looking?
By drinking lots of water, washing my face twice a day and by
avoiding eating junk food.
What do you believe is good
health and fitness?
Good health and fitness is living a healthy life 24/7. You have to
eat, breath and live health and fitness. Working out consistently,
eating right, getting proper sleep is good health and fitness.
Do you prefer to tan or use
tanning lotion?
Lucky for me I am African-American. I don’t need tanning lotion.
