Portions are getting larger and so is plate size. A great start to minimizing your portions is to reduce the size of your plate or bowl.  Visual cues play a major factor in consumption, as those who are served with a large plate may unintentionally overeat more than those served on a smaller plate. This goes back to a saying many of us have heard before about our eyes being bigger than our stomachs. In this case size does matter and smaller is better!
