Most Americans find that when they go on a no or low fat diet they still tend to gain weight. Not all fats are created equal as good fats help nutrient absorption, nerve transmission, maintaining cell membrane integrity etc…  To not increase our risk of heart disease it is good to replace bad fats with good fats. What are good fats? Monounsaturated fats such as nuts, avocados, olive oil and canola oil. Polyunsaturated fats such as salmon, fish oil, corn, soy, and sunflower oils. STAY AWAY from saturated and trans fats that are contained in most packaged foods!
