Halloween is the second largest retail holiday of the year in the United States, and one of the worst Holidays for your children’s health. Americans consume far too much holiday crap in their diet. Imagine if you handed out vegetables instead of candy how much more children would appreciate their health and get them to enjoy eating vegetables. I know, how ludicrous. Why would we want to “trick” our kids by making them think that the real treats out there are organic veggies and fruit?
Our nation keeps getting fatter. Did you know that Americans put 2/3rds of the fat on their bodies over the course of a year, just during the holidays? As a personal trainer in Arizona, I see it year after year, the majority of people lose their focus because they allow the holidays, special dinners, events, surrounded by eating un-healthy fat causing foods, to take over their lives. Then as the New Year hits they expect to get in amazing shape by summer time.
I just don’t get it. Destroy your body, then do your best to get super fit so you may do it all over again over the holidays? Doesn’t make sense to me, does it make sense to you?
People, the Media, anyone who wants to listen. Stop creating fat kids, bad habits, and destroying the human genetic pool. Let’s find a soloution to stop the fat and start the health, so our children can function properly and we may be lucky to even slow down the amount of depressed, un-happy, low self-esteem children out there. Overweight children are ridiculed by other kids, do you want this for your child? We can also slow down the pharmaceutical companies from making so much money from all of us fat and un-healthy people.
Parents you are in control of what your kids eat. Celebrate the holidays, celebrate Halloween, but stop destroying your children by letting them gorge themselves on garbage bag filled candy bags. I would say destroy all white and refined sugar products because they are only harmful to your health. You might not want to give up things that hurt you because you feel the taste is far greater than the harm. So limit the amount of candies your children eat per day, per week. Give them a few of their favorite candies and throw the rest away, give them away.
Sugar is one of the most harmful and addictive agents out there, and food scientists know it, so they continue to put sugar and harmful additives into our food to continue to sell more and make more money for themselves, which in turn causes you and your children to get worse health.
You need to have control of yourself and your children, so you must and should want to choose to take responsibility for your health and your children’s health. You might not care about your health and future, but you shojuld take your children’s health and life seriously by providing them with proper food and exercise. You have the choice to make your children healthy and happy because they don’t know any better, so take a stand and be a parent, not just a friend that gives into your children’s whining and crying.
Give yourself healthy and tasty alternatives that will keep your kids healthy and fit. Give them organic fruits and veggies. Find an orgainc treat, though I recommend training your children that organic fruits and veggies to be a treat.
But if you still want to give them candy find an organic snack or treat at Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s or Wild Oats.
Make something from scratch, learn to be healthy and cook healthy to really treat your kids health right.
Exercise if you choose to destroy your health by eating those refined sugars and flowers and the candy loaded with sugar that causes you to get so fat. Exercise, run, walk, job, jump rope, something to counteract all the bad foods you load into your mouth.
Enjoy a nice walk, jog with your kids go on a bike ride, kids love to exercise so let them do it.
Weight lifting studies have shown that lifting weights burns more fat then other forms of exercise, so do a quick exercise program every morning or at night with your kids.
12 lunges, 12 squats, 12 push ups, 12 pull ups. Start off doing 1 set, then add 2 sets then 3 sets, then do as many as you can in 30 min. Once you get to 30 mininutes of performing everything beat how many total times you made it through the next exercise program.
Enjoy the holidays, enjoy Halloween, but stay fit and healthy during this time, if you don’t want to do it for yourself, be healhy and fit for your kids.
