Kinesiology tape been around for close to 25 years. It was developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase in his search for a sports taping method that assists healing traumatized tissue and muscles.
Kensio Tape soon has been realized to have benefits such as:
1. Pain relief via structural support for weak or injured body parts:
Kinesiology tape is flexible elastic tape that moves with your body. It provides support to your body’s range of motion without sticking or hindering movement. This helps minimize muscle inhibition that occurs during muscle aches or pain in that specific part of the body.
As we noted, muscles get support with the elastic and flexibility of the tape throughout the entire range of movement. With this, muscle strength may be assisted from the tape by the tactile feedback through the skin (proprioception) boost. This correlates to helping improve or enhance athletic or muscular performance. It also increases performance in children with low muscle tone.
3. Swelling Reduction:
Kinesiology tapes provides a passive lift to your skin when worn via its elastic properties. This vacuum effect allows your lymphatic and venous systems to drain the swollen or bruised tissue quicker than if no Kineso tape was applied. By the same principle, it assists the removal of exercise byproducts like lactic acid that it may contribute to delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) or post exercise soreness you feel.
